Sweet boy whose time was running out in a Tennessee shelter

Yanni is a Pekingese mix, estimated by the vet to be about 2 1/2 years old.  He was boarded for 10 days quarantine and then neutered, Heartworm tested, and Rabies shot given Sept. 12, 2001 and other vaccinations began.  He weighs 20 lbs. and is 13" high at the shoulder.

Yanni is being crate-trained and is doing very well.  During the day (weather permitting) he is mostly outdoors on the deck or fenced yard.  He gets along well with other dogs, seems anxious to please, will chase the cats if they run but is not aggressive towards them - wants to play.  One cute behavior that he does consistently is:  If you verbally scold him - like "No", he lies down and scratches his ear with a hind paw.  It is almost like he is saying "Oh, was I really doing that?" or maybe "If I act occupied maybe she will forget that I was misbehaving."  It is really cute.  He does not behave like he has been abused.
