Willie

Willie is recuperating from his neuter and eye surgery that was needed because of an old untreated injury.  He is not yet available.  Willie is sort of a mystery dog as far as breed.  He was listed as a Lhasa at the shelter.   Before he was shaved down he was very wooly with bad mats to the skin and flea-infested, appearing mostly black and grey.  One vet said that he sees some Poodle in him from his face and the tail.  But I have never seen a dapple coated Poodle.  9/24/04

Willie is a chameleon dog!  Look at the interesting pics below taken 10/9/04.   He was lying on my bed with some light shining in from the window.  His grey/white coat seems to pick up the colors around him and he almost blends into the sheets and spread.

Update Feb. 4, 2005:  Willie still needs a home.  I call him my "little gentleman".  He is a calm, laid-back dog.  He does well on a leash, is housebroken, and would love to share your sofa with you.  Below is a picture taken today showing how his hair is growing back in.  When he was in the pound he was very wooly, but matted and had to be trimmed close.  He seemed to like his trimmed coat and his people at his new home may want to do this for the warmer months.  His eye has been checked routinely by the vet, and she has taken a "wait and see" attitude, saying that it does not seem to bother him and unless it gets worse that it is best to not remove it.  There is still a possibility that he could need the eye removed in the future.  The good news is that we have an offer from someone to donate toward this surgery should it become necessary - up to $200.  Willie uses a crate some here at my home.  It is his bed and sometimes when the door is left open, he will go in on his own.  He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and on Heartgard.

Could you be the home for Willie?  He was saved from a rural pound on his last day.  He was not being adopted because of his eye.  This dog needs a loving home.  Many rescued dogs come with "flaws" because of their background.   Willie's previous owner obviously neglected him - dirty, matted, and his eye untreated.

Willie gets along well with other dogs and is not cat aggressive.  He would do best in a home with moderate activity and no small children.

Willie seems to be a very happy boy.  His favorite toy is a plush stuffed Octupus.
