Taken through the rails of the pickup truck when they came with Midget

Hello - I am "Midge"

I was born on a farm in rural Virginia under a house.  When I was just a few days old it came a flood and I was the ONLY pup that survived the flood.   When I was about a year old and my master (who has several other dogs) says he has to "get rid of me" because I killed a chicken.  I had been chained for several months since I killed the chicken.

I was going to be taken to the pound, but was taken into foster care by Save Just One.  Midge is now about 4 years old.

Update 12/1/06    Midge has been spayed.  She is affectionate, loves tummy rubs, very smart.  Zeke is her kennel mate.  Zeke comes to the kennel door trying to squeeze out and I have to make him back away so that I can go inside.  Often Midge comes over and makes him get away from the door.   One day just as I bent over to pick up her food dish Midge decided to jump up onto the top of one of the dog houses and she smashed me right into my face with me wearing glasses.  I saw stars and had to lean against the fencing.  I said "Midge - you HURT ME!"   She was pitiful...she knew that she had.  She came over by me and sat licking my arm.

Another story about Midge:  I usually do not leave collars on the dogs because other dogs will get hold of them and damage them and I don't want to worry about the collar getting hung on something.  One day I had put collars on Midge and Zeke to be able to lead them to the big yard for playtime and when I returned them to their kennel I forgot to remove the collars.  I left home for a couple hours that afternoon.  At feeding time when I got to the door of their kennel I saw the buckle and about 4 inches of Zeke's leather collar hung up in twisted mangled chain link at the bottom of the door and the rest of it was in the kennel.  Zeke had torn loose about enough of the chain link to almost get this head through!   I examined the pieces of the collar and discovered that it had been CHEWED!  The only conclusion that I could come to is that Midge chewed it off of Zeke's neck to free him.

Update 9/12/07:  Midge has been a house doggie for several weeks now and is loving every minute of it.  She is very affectionate, well behaved, loves tummy rubs, tolerates a bath, good with other dogs (except she does not like Pippie, 7 pounds).  She does not offer to chase or bother the older cats, but one day she did "catch" a half grown kitten.  She did not hurt it - I think she just wanted to play.  To be safe (for the cats) I would suggest a home with no cats.  She likes older children but would probably be good with young ones, too.

Update 10/22/07:  I had company this past weekend.   My two great grandsons, ages 5 and 6 were here.  Midge just LOVED the boys!
