Dusty's Story

Dec. 2000 - approx. 3/4 months old
(from local pound)
Dusty is a small dog, probably a mix of Pug (black mask), Chihuahua, and Terrier.
Update: April 12, 2001: Dusty is now about 7/8 months old and weighs approx. 15 lbs. He is very lively and always seems happy. He is a bit shy until he gets to know you. On a recent ride to attend an "Adoption Day" he was scared and became sick at his stomach. He needs to be taken for short rides to get him more accustomed to travel. Our rescue has been filled to the brim and we still need to work on house-training and leash-training. Dusty really needs his own caring person who would be willing to teach him. I know he is anxious to please.
Update: Dec. 20, 2001: Application to adopt Dusty is 99.9% approved! The home visit will be done this evening by a fellow rescue worker that lives in the area of Manchester, New Hampshire where Dusty's new home will be. (Thanks Doris) We feel certain that the home visit is a formality at this point to fulfill our policy of always doing a home visit before finalizing the adoption. Dusty will have a loving family which includes Matthew, age 13 who has begged for a dog for a long time and always included asking for one in his evening prayers. Reservations have even been made for Dusty to attend obedience classes. The adoptive "dad" tell us that there will be Christmas presents under the tree for Matthew which include collar, leash, toys, etc. for Dusty, and that a bed has been ordered from Land's End.
Dec. 17, 2001
Dusty has been neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, on Heartgard Plus and Frontline.
Update: Feb. 14, 2002 Dusty left Jan. 12, 2002 by volunteer transport. He was relayed by volunteer transporters doing approximately 100 mile legs all day and was overnighted. His trip continued the next day and he was met by his adoptive "Dad". Dusty has now been at his new home in Manchester, N.H. for a month. Matthew (age 13) is thrilled with him. Dusty seems to be adjusting well and has become a real member of the family! He goes to obedience class once a week and one day a week he attends "doggy day care" where he has the company of other dogs. One email update on Dusty says "We have a new vet and she is just tremendous! She said Dusty is in great health and confirmed the Chi/Terrier/Pug mix. She just loved him." I have been promised pictures of Dusty and Matthew and will add them when received.
Update: Mar. 18, 2001 The pictures arrived!
